Spencer Bayston Wins World of Outlaws Round 1 at Volusia

Posted by Rob Dommes on

After struggling through difficult seasons and multiple team changes, Spencer Bayston found redemption Wednesday night at Volusia Speedway Park. Driving for his new team, Stenhouse Jr./Marshall Racing, Bayston captured his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car victory since August 2023—a 545-day drought.

Starting 10th in the season-opening Feature at DIRTcar Nationals, Bayston methodically worked through the field before passing Anthony Macri on lap 16 and driving to victory. The win marked his sixth career World of Outlaws triumph and first-ever at Volusia.

Beyond the statistics, the victory validated Bayston's talent after recent career uncertainty and proved his new team made the right choice. "It's been a rocky road," Bayston admitted. "To come out swinging and get ourselves a win first night out is awesome." Carson Macedo, Anthony Macri, Michael Kofoid, and Donny Schatz completed the top five.
