Michael “Buddy” Kofoid won the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ first-ever race at the new Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Park Speedway, a 1/4-mile Illinois bullring, on Saturday night. He took the 40-lap Feature and the Battle at Belle-Clair championship belt.
Kofoid and good friend Garet Williamson battled through the opening half, trading slide jobs, crossovers and passes using lapped cars. Kofoid took the lead for good on lap 18 and built a commanding advantage in the Roth Motorsports No. 83. A late red flag for Williamson’s flip gave Parker Price-Miller a shot with 11 laps to go, but Kofoid pulled away through traffic. He called it some of the best racing he’s been part of this year, and wished Williamson could have joined him in Victory Lane.
The win was Kofoid’s 16th of 2026, the most in the series. That ties Danny Lasoski’s 1999 record for most wins in a season for Roth Motorsports. He’ll hold the season lead alone unless David Gravel or Sheldon Haudenschild wins all five remaining races.
Price-Miller started on the pole, dropped to sixth, and rallied to second. Illinois native Karter Sarff took third, his first top three in just his third Feature. Haudenschild and Spencer Bayston completed the top five.
