MIA CHAPMAN - LOORS 5 & 6

Posted by K1 RaceGear on

"June 2nd & 3rd were rounds 5 & 6 of the Lucas Oil Arizona Regional, it was a hot weekend of racing in Arizona with temps both days of 106° but that didn't affect my results!
On Friday in the Modified kart class I qualified a solid 3rd place so I was pumped for my second row inside start but as the race started I lost all brakes on the first lap. Quickly I had to adapt to racing with no brakes and 12 laps later I took the checkered flag in 3rd place. I am very proud of myself for overcoming and adapting to the situation. After the race was over we found we had a broken brake line so we got it fixed for the next day.
On Saturday I qualified 1st but the starting inversion was 4. When the green flag dropped I got an awesome start and by lap 2 found myself in the lead, 10 laps later to took the checkered flag in 1st! I was so pumped for my first modified kart win.
A friend of mine, Maddie Dye who races in the JR2 class, was injured and could not race the weekend so I filled in for her and drove her #409 JR 2 to a win, both days sweeping the class.
Sunday I had the opportunity to fill in for Robert Vanbeekum in his production turbo UTV. It was great to get back behind the wheell of a UTV, finishing a close 5th."
