Kyle Larson Wins at Gateway Raceway

Kyle Larson snapped a 51-race winless streak Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, holding off Joey Logano and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman through two overtimes to win the Enjoy Illinois 300. It was the defending champion's first victory since May 2025 at Kansas, his first at WWT Raceway, and 33rd career win. Larson led 80 laps, took Stage 2, and moved into second in the Chase standings, nine points behind Denny Hamlin, who struggled to a ninth-place finish after a bad pit stop.

The race featured a record 18 cautions for 87 laps, with Larson passing Logano for the lead after a Lap 228 restart following a four-car wreck. A four-tire call on his final pit stop gave Larson a speed advantage over Logano, who took only right-side tires, and Bowman's pushes on restarts helped seal the win. Larson dedicated the victory to Bowman, whose dog died days earlier.

Logano finished third despite leading a race-high 96 laps. Several Chase contenders were hit hard by mechanical failures and wrecks, including Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher, and Chase Elliott, who all suffered exploding brake rotors or crashes, reshuffling the standings with eight races remaining.
