Michael “Buddy” Kofoid won the 39th running of the Short Track Nationals on Saturday night at Texarkana 67 Speedway, capping the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ debut weekend at the Arkansas oval. The 40-lap main event paid $25,000 to win.
Cole Macedo started on the pole, still hunting his first Series win after leading the most laps but falling short the night before. He ran a strong race, handling traffic, countering Kofoid’s moves, and surviving multiple restarts.
The decisive moment came on a restart with six laps to go. Kofoid, driving the Roth Motorsports No. 83, changed strategy and ripped the cushion while Macedo went down the hill. That gave Kofoid a big run for a Turn 1 slide job that Macedo couldn’t answer with a crossover, and Kofoid drove away. He said he had to talk himself into the move because of how treacherous it was, but got a great launch and a straighter car.
The victory was Kofoid’s 17th of 2026, breaking Danny Lasoski’s 1999 record of 16 for the winningest season in Roth Motorsports history. Roth has also clinched the winningest team on tour for the first time. Kofoid became the 21st different Short Track Nationals champion. Macedo’s runner-up finish in the TwoC Racing car was his career-best with the World of Outlaws.
